Laurel and Hardy Museum
World's largest collection of memorabilia
collected by the late Bill Cubin, museum founder and discoverer of Stan's
Ulverston birth. Letters, photographs, personal items plus small cinema
room showing films and documentaries throughout day. Small attraction,

Swarthmoor Hall
Lovely old house built about 1568 became home to Quaker
movement (Religious Society of Friends) from 1650s. Open for guided tours
Tues-Fri 2.30pm, other times when staff are free, ask at hall. Taped
commentary guided tour of 6 historic rooms takes 45 minutes. £3.50
children and concessions £2.50. Tea and coffee £1 per person, ask when

Conishead Priory
Historic house and new World Peace temple, base for
Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, woodland, gardens and beach walks,

Furness Abbey
Impressive sandstone remains of 2nd richest abbey in N after
